The Afghan refugee repatriation process continues to gain momentum, with 4,966 Afghan nationals departing for Afghanistan on Sunday night alone, according to an official report.
Breakdown of Departures
The report revealed that among the total number of refugees, 1,698 individuals possessed Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC), while the remaining 3,268 were unregistered residents in Pakistan.
Deportations Continue Late into the Night
Officials involved in the repatriation confirmed that the deportation process extended late into Sunday night. As a result, data for those who left on Monday has not yet been finalized. Authorities expect to release updated figures once the Monday count is verified.
Total Repatriations Since September 2023
Since September 2023, a total of 484,975 Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan, the report noted. Of these, the vast majority—473,841 individuals—returned voluntarily, signaling a willingness among many to reunite with their homeland. The remaining 11,134 were deported through various points in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a key region in the cross-border movement.

Regional Focus and Ongoing Monitoring
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains a central hub in the repatriation process, given its proximity to the Afghan border and high concentration of Afghan refugees. Local officials are working closely with federal agencies to ensure that the return process remains orderly and in line with legal protocols.
A Coordinated Effort
With tens of thousands already returned, and thousands more expected to leave in the coming days, the repatriation drive marks a significant moment in regional migration dynamics and policy enforcement. Authorities continue to track the figures closely and plan to release updated counts in the days ahead.
