Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK and a vocal Trump ally, suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s clothing choice may have worsened tensions during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. Farage claimed that Trump, who is “incredibly old-fashioned” about dress codes, could have reacted differently had Zelenskyy worn a suit.

Speaking on LBC, Farage argued that dressing appropriately for the White House meeting could have helped improve relations. “If I turned up at the White House, I’d make sure I was wearing a suit, my shoes were cleaned,” he said. According to Farage, Trump frequently comments on people’s clothing, especially shoes, as part of his personality. “Lots of times Trump said, ‘Yeah, good shoes, great shoes,’” Farage noted, implying that a positive first impression matters when dealing with Trump.
