The administration of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has collected billions from consumers due to gas shortages and alleged theft. The company has issued bills totaling over 11 billion rupees to its customers.
SSGC sent out additional bills to consumers, citing gas losses and theft as the reasons. According to sources, the 11 billion rupees billed accounts for the consumption of 23 billion cubic feet of gas. By issuing these extra charges, the company reduced its Unaccounted for Gas (UFG) from 18% to 10%.
Sources suggest that SSGC’s move to lower the UFG is a strategy to turn its losses into profits. The company has faced criticism for this approach, as consumers have been burdened with inflated charges.

Additional Charges on Consumers
Between July 2023 and May 2024, consumers received over 11 billion rupees in additional charges. These charges were labeled under theft, slow meters, and UFG discrepancies. This decision has added a significant financial burden on customers, many of whom have raised concerns over the fairness of these bills.
SSGC, which serves over 3.5 million consumers, has sent out a total of 79 billion rupees in bills from July 2023 to May 2024. This represents an increase of 44 billion rupees compared to the previous year. The higher billing amount has caused public outcry as customers question the legitimacy of these charges.
