The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has announced that it will enforce its laws regarding the acquisition of visas for Pakistani minors strictly.
UAE Consul General in Karachi, Bakheet Ateeq Al-Remeithi, spoke to the media about the Wadeema law, Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 concerning child rights.
He said that a large number of Pakistanis who possess work visas in the UAE are violating laws regarding children’s rights under the Wadeema law.
The UAE has decided to place stringent measures to protect the rights of children with families living in the country.
Al-Remeithi explained that the laws define the children’s right to education and a significant number of Pakistanis are depriving their children of this right by keeping them at home.
The government has made tough decisions to ensure that the rules regarding the rights of children with families living in the UAE are strictly enforced.
The Emirati envoy emphasized the importance of education for children and stated that the UAE government has decided to take action against parents who violate laws protecting children.
He clarified that the Wadeema law is applicable to Pakistanis who possess a work or residence visa.
The UAE houses a population of 16 to 17 million Pakistanis. Those who violate the law can be deported from the UAE. The consul general informed the media outlet about restrictions being placed for the acquisition of new visas.
“In the future, visas will be granted to Pakistanis who assure full implementation of the Wadeema law,” he said.
Al-Remeithi urged expatriate Pakistani parents in the UAE to ensure their children’s education and protect their rights, including those related to health and freedoms.
He added that there is no such restriction on Pakistani nationals applying for a visit visa. “The UAE government will welcome Pakistanis coming to the UAE on a tourist visa, and there is no restriction on them from visiting the country,” he clarified.
