Indonesia faced an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on Monday this week in the town of Cianjur which is towards the south of Jakarta.
Thousands of people got affected because of the earthquake. Many people lost access to food, shelter, and electricity.
The earthquake reportedly killed 271 people, and many others are still missing.
The rescue operation to save survivors is taking a long time, and the authorities believe that they might lose most of the survivors.
Aftershocks are still affecting the living conditions in Indonesia along with heavy rains.
The disaster mitigation chief, Suharyanto said that many people have still not received aid. But they have deployed 200 volunteers to help distribute food, water and military tents for shelter.
Indonesian President, Joko Widodo visited the earthquake site twice and said that the rescue operation and distribution of food and water should accelerate.
He further added, “It’s still raining and there are still aftershocks. The ground is shaky, so caution is needed.”
