Brad Pitt using celebrity status during court case, accuses Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie accuses her ex-husband Brad Pitt of abusing his celebrity status to gain preferential treatment in their divorce proceedings.
The Salt actor’s claims come after Pitt’s lawyers filed a motion to reverse a decision to disqualify the judge who had previously presided over the ex-custody couple’s battle.
According to court documents published by Page Six, Jolie’s legal team claimed: “This type of gamesmanship, a last-ditch attempt by a celebrity plaintiff demanding special treatment, is not what this Court’s limited review resources are for.”
“There is nothing here to see or review. There is no problem satisfying this Court’s stringent requirements for, or deserving of, review,” they said.
In June, the ex-couple was granted shared custody of their children.
Only a month later, however, Jolie’s legal team convinced a California appeals court that Judge John Ouderkirk, who was supervising the case, should be removed due to Pitt’s attorneys failing to disclose past connections with him.
“There is no significant doubt that a privately compensated judge who has formed a favorable recurrent customer relationship with one litigant’s counsel without full disclosure must be disqualified,” the petition read.
