Etisalat Group and Govt to boost Telecom Sector and economic growth
ISLAMABAD: The Etisalat committee, on Thursday, consisting of the top management, held talks with Federal Ministers and other major government stakeholders in Islamabad.
The delegation headed by Group CEO Etisalat Hatem Dowidar met with the Federal Minister for Finance, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Minister for Privatization, Muhammad Mian Soomro, and Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), Maj Gen. (R) Amir Azeem Bajwa.

Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh invited the delegation from Etisalat to Pakistan during the conference. Matters of public concern were addressed with a specific emphasis on the telecommunications industry and its importance to national economic development.
Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Minister of Finance, commended the efforts of Etisalat and PTCL for their remarkable coordination and cooperation in building a robust infrastructure that would surely turn Pakistan into a digital economy. The Minister outlined the vision of Pakistan’s Digital Pakistan Prime Minister and outlined his place in today ’s digital age.

During his meeting, the Federal Minister for Privatization, Muhammad Mian Soomro, welcomed their presence in Pakistan and their contribution to the Telecom Sector. He stressed that there are enormous resources that should be made available. Pakistan’s per capita mobile phone ratio is among the best in the world.
Teams from Etisalat and Privatization had agreed to accelerate the outstanding problems and to resume sittings.
Hatem Dowidar, Group CEO, Etisalat, applauded the endeavors of the Government of Pakistan, such as the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Privatization. He also stressed their position in revamping Pakistan’s Telecom Sector on the pattern of the world’s leading economies.
