ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) wrote a letter to the Pakistan Election Commission (ECP) urging it to take notice of the meetings of the provincial governors with the different candidates for the Senate elections.
Elections to the Senate are set to take place on 3 March, during which campaigning is underway and all political parties are engaged in striking deals to win the polls.
The document, written by PPP Secretary-General Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, alluded to the code of conduct of the ECP, which prevented the President and the governors of the provinces from engaging in any election campaign related to the Senate poll in any way whatsoever and advised them not to use their respective offices and houses in connection with it.
On 25 February, the Election Commission released a CoC (Code of Conduct) for political parties, contesting candidates, election officers and electors for the elections to the Senate.
