After a brief fight against cancer, veteran Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Mohammad Anwar passed away in London on Friday morning, his family said in a tweet.
“Our beloved dad, Mohammad Anwar, passed away peacefully early this morning at 3:45 am,” the family said.
The family of Anwar said he had been diagnosed with cancer four months earlier and was being treated at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Anwar had passed away in the hospital, they said.
Anwar leaves a wife and three daughters behind.
The former politician was the leader of the diplomatic wing of the MQM and was also a member of the Coordinating Committee of the party.
