Pakistan has contacted 8 companies to buy the Covid-19 vaccine.
However, VC National Health Services Academy Islamabad Dr Asad Hafeez says that Pakistani authorities have little interest in Pfizer and Modern Messenger RNA vaccines.
He mentioned that getting the vaccine for 500,000 front-line workers in three months would be a great achievement for Pakistan but it would unthinkable to provide a vaccine to the majority of Pakistanis for six months to come.
According to Parliamentary Secretary Health, Noshin Hamid, the government of Pakistan is collecting funds for the corona inoculation and will begin vaccinating in the second quarter of the next year. Moreover, the vaccine will be made available to the public free of charge.
On the other hand, the federal cabinet has approved an allocation of $150 million for the covid vaccine and the government has agreed to buy the vaccine in advance.
